ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL WORK LIFE GROUP
We are a group of people diverse in location, age, and areas of professional work, but we share the mission of identifying and sharing the ingredients of a beautiful work life.
We met through the House of Beautiful Business who initiated this project that we brought to life.
We believe the nature of work can be better, beautiful even, and we are advocates for change. We wholeheartedly dedicate our time, energy, and hearts into continuing to research and share the ingredients of a beautiful work life.
We invite you to take it into your world, too.
METHODOLOGY
In the summer of 2021 we collaborated to answer the question What Are The Ingredients of a Beautiful Work Life?
Our curiosity got us exploring some of the below questions which are still relevant today: How do people feel about their work life? What do they long for in their work life? What kind of work makes people come alive? How many of us are enjoying a beautiful work life? And who is responsible for creating a beautiful work life?
To answer these questions and more, we have annually distributed a global survey. So far the survey has captured over 400 opinions from across the world.
We have identified that there are 7 Ingredients of a Beautiful Work Life: Agency, Awareness & Realization, Belonging, Security & Safety, Organizational Structure, Meaning & Purpose and Aliveness.
These findings resulted in presenting at the 2021 conference Concrete Love in Lisbon by House of Beautiful Business. We then launched a dedicated website and continue to provide exercises for individuals and organizations to deepen their learnings and apply it to their own lives.
We think it's important to acknowledge that as of December 2022 the majority of respondents are from North America and Europe. Analyzing the data we noticed an obvious bias for respondents in leadership positions and senior management roles.
The data therefore represents a learning towards Western and also largely white-collar / knowledge-based perspectives including privileges, biases, customs, cultures, ethnicities, social, economic, political states, and other factors that shape individual views and feelings. We are grateful for this group's input, and hope to gather more diverse voices in future surveys so that we may reflect the multitude of beautiful work lives.
We hope you will join us on this journey to make work, and our lives, more beautiful.
